Constitution and Aims

For a long period of time in 2003, it appeared very likely that Oldham Athletic would cease to exist. However, thanks in a very large part to the fans of Oldham Athletic, the people of the town, and football fans worldwide the faith has been kept, and the club will go into the 2004/2005 season with a promising team, manager and set-up.

Danny Gazal, Simon Blitz and Simon Corney have gone on record time and time again to underline what an important part the people of Oldham have played in saving their football club - and the efforts of everyone from past players, managers to the people of the Town have been channeled through the formation of Trust Oldham - the in dependant Supporters' Trust of Oldham Athletic.

With £200,000 invested in the club and a seat on the Board, it would be easy to think that the Trust can now take a back seat and relax its efforts - however, every director of the Trust believe this would be the wrong thing to do! Oldham Athletic have been saved, there is no doubt of that - however, until the Club is a viable financial proposition, it will never be totally safe.

Trust Oldham will now focus its efforts on several fronts, these will be:

Protecting the future of Oldham Athletic
Having a fan on the board of the club is vital in ensuring a debacle similar to that of the 'Chris Moore Era' will never happen again un-noticed. Whilst the Trust may be unable to stop such an event happening, we will be in a good position to see this happening, and have plans formulated to cope with such a situation.

Representing the views of the fans
The fans are the very soul of the club - there is no doubt of that. By having a fan on the Board of Directors, the view of any single Oldham Athletic fan can be aired at board-room level. The Trust will always strive to ensure that fans are treated in a fair manner, and help build a fan-friendly football club.

Investing in the future of Oldham Athletic
The Trust will continue to raise funds to invest in the future development of the football club - starting at youth-team level. We will work closely with the youth set-up to help youngsters in Oldham develop their footballing talent so we can see more players like Chris Taylor, Neil Eardley, Dean Smalley and Matty Wolfenden progress into the first team.
